Underwater navigation allows divers to make their way back to a special spot discovered on an earlier dive. They use the tricks and techniques of navigation to find an ideal exit point at the end of a dive without the need for an uncomfortable surface swim.
When everyone’s buzzing about a reef or checking out a wreck, they’re having a great time – until it’s time to go and they have no idea where they are or where the boat is!
Underwater navigation can be challenging, but the Underwater Navigation Speciality course fine-tunes your observation skills and teaches you more accurate use of your compass and is designed to give students a greater understanding and experience of how to properly navigate underwater using both natural and compass navigation.
Initial theory will be undertaken online at the student’s convenience, with review and consolidation in the ScubaQuest Dive Centre at The National Diving & Activity Centre when you attend the course.
We are providing this certification through either Scuba Diving International (SDI) or PADI. Both agency certifications are equally valid and recognised worldwide. Please enquire at the centre if you require your training to be through a specific agency.
The course is completed in one day with a theory session and a minimum of 2 dives.
Speciality Courses are organised to fit with customer demand. Availability on specific dates will be discussed on enquiry when every effort will be made to schedule the required course into the planned forward program.
Please note: The Open Water Dive sessions at the National Diving & Activity Centre (NDAC) will be weather, water temperature and underwater visibility dependent.
