Welcome to NDAC
Most of our training takes place in the classrooms at our Dive Centre, and then in the waters of NDAC. If the prospect of diving in a quarry in the UK in winter sounds a little chilly, don’t worry, we have a range of undersuits and drysuits to help you cope!
There may be closed water (pool) sessions for some courses, and there are opportunities for online learning as well.
A typical day in the quarry
On arrival at NDAC you will be given a thorough site briefing so that you know what is at the facility and where you will be training. Your instructor and the support team will introduce you to the equipment that you’ll be using for your dives, and familiarise you with it’s operation.
Don’t worry, we were all absolute beginners once upon a time, and we appreciate that there is a lot of new and unfamiliar equipment to get used to – so we’ll make sure you’re happy with everything that you’ll be taking into the water with you.
Afterwards, you will head back up to the classroom for a thorough debriefing, where your instructor will go over the dive and give you individual feedback, and cover anything that they think you’ll need to focus on next time.
Learning to dive involves putting yourself in a very alien environment, and we understand that this can be worrying and stressful. But with the support of the instructor and the accompanying team, you’ll be in the best possible hands!
Theory sessions are taught online and in our multi-media equipped classrooms (although extensive use is made of an old-fashioned white board!).
Pool sessions take place at Thornbury Leisure Centre (BS35 3JB), which has a dedicated 3m deep dive pool.
A Successful Day
If you meet the requirements of the course, you will be awarded your certification.
